Abas
(Afghanistan) The eldest brother, Abas has created many public and private artworks for the European and Middle Eastern markets. He has won many National awards in both painting and sculpture and is one of Afghanistan’s leading artists. He has recently completed statues of the Hazara leader Abdul Mazari in Kabul and Bamiyan. At present he is working in Bamiyan as part of an international team which is developing a cultural and tourist centre at the site of the ancient Buddhas which were destroyed up by the Taliban. This is being led by the Japanese government as part of the reconstruction of Afghanistan.
